CNC Programmer
  • Classification:Non-Exempt, Hourly
  • Reports To:Plant Manager
  • Location:Orangeburg & Manning, SC

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential Functions

  • Set-up and operate CNC equipment requiring Long Hand Programming and Conversational Programming
  • Demonstrates the ability to predict tool wear and eliminates product, tool and machine trouble. Accomplishes training, employee task counseling and guidance.
  • Ability to collaborate with co-workers and management to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Aptitudes for a machine shop including blueprint reading, basic math, measurement equipment, and computers.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively change tools and start minor setups.
  • Understands concepts of metal cutting such as turning, drilling, etc.
  • Basic math skills and manual dexterity.
  • Communicate effectively with team members as well as management.
  • Ability to work in a co-worker team environment.
  • Keeps the work area clean and organized.
  • Assist all CNC operators.
  • Can assist QC in determining control dimensions to be charted.
  • Has the ability to complete SPC forms i.e.: All measurement readings, average of readings, average of range.
  • Demonstrates ability to set-up and operate various CNC equipment with no supervision or assistance.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Set up and operate a variety of machines to produce/modify precision parts. Includes applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures

Essential Functions

  • Set up and operate a variety of machines to produce/modify precision parts. Includes applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Time Management of one's own time and the time of others.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • The ability to adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions quickly and repeatedly.

  • Has the ability to make minor adjustments to achieve quality product.
  • Can fill in SPC data collection forms with little or no assistance.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Provides support to the General Manager and the operation of the plant

Essential Functions

  • Maintain mod shop report with appropriate comments and due dates.
  • Enter and process work orders for TA’s that need mod shop repairs and monitor inventory to verify commercial components that are needed to make the valve are on schedule.
  • Pull prints, bills of material and any other information needed for new product development.
  • Check daily new customer orders report each day for valves that need special modifications, write changeover jobs to release to shop on special items and schedule valves and materials needed according to availability.
  • Enter Assembly shop orders,
  • Separate paperwork and print shop packets, pulling and printing part prints for each job to be released to the shop floor.
  • Release all mod shop packets to floor, maintain computer dates when complete.
  • Close orders in computer and file all keyed paperwork coming back from the floor.
  • Update all manufacturing order quantities once material is in house, or any quantity changes, etc.
  • Collaborate with customer service via phone calls and emails with any questions and problems or special needs that they may have.
  • Work with engineering with questions and modifications on bills of materials.
  • Enter inter-company customer orders to other plants for any parts we need them to run.
  • Assist with year-end physical inventory
  • Verify transaction history daily to make sure everything was entered correctly. Correct errors.
  • Cycle count parts daily update inventory in computer as needed.
  • Work with the plant manager and purchasing to make sure material needed is there and the correct parts and valves are in production. Make sure any problems that may affect schedules are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with vendors to get missing acknowledgements back, send needed prints, price changes, etc.
  • Email changes on items to the purchasing department so they can change the computer to keep prices current on item master.
  • Work with purchasing department and or vendors to expedite parts needed.
  • Help research and correct problems with any parts received from vendors.
  • Help research and resolve any inventory issues on finished valves or rough parts.
  • Work with QC on parts on Trouble Analysis to determine if we need to replace them, rework them, scrap them etc.
  • Work with QC on any problems they incur when inspecting incoming parts, returned valves, or jobs running in the shop.
  • Perform maintenance and problem solving on all office equipment.
  • Help plant manager with what is needed (typing reports, information for projects, etc).
  • Oversee ordering of plant office supplies including cafeteria and coffee machine supplies.
  • Keep up with refunds for machines in the canteen and call the vendor about broken machines to get them fixed.
  • Other duties as needed.

  • High School diploma required and 1 – 3 years relevant work experience in manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar and communication skills.
  • Proficient to advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outloook.
  • Manufacturing inventory software knowledge a plus.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management skills.

This position will have a desk in the office, however, will spend a significant amount of time in the plant which is not temperature controlled.
